Clergy for Fairness

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist’s constitutional amendment prohibiting same-sex unions - the Federal Marriage Amendment - is coming up for a vote in June, despite its overwhelming failure to pass the last Congress. But is it really the only way to save heterosexual marriage from the scourge of gayness?

According to a Pew Research Center poll, opposition to same-sex marriage has dropped by double digits since the 2004 election and marriage bans have failed in seven states this year. And more people are waking up to the fact that government intrusion into your personal life is never good, no matter what the wrapping paper.

To that end Clergy for Fairness, an interfaith coalition of clergy members and lay leaders, has announced a petition drive aimed at blocking that constitutional amendment.
