Real ID Gets a Thumbs Down from Maine

The Maine House and Senate registered nearly unanimous opposition to the federal Real ID Act, which requires states to change their drivers’ licenses into national IDs linked to a central database. Supporters of the nonbinding resolution say the program would cost Maine taxpayers $185 million, while compromising their privacy.
